Brother Emory Everett Reyburn

 -1920-

A master's job is never done, it lives on through the ages.

The Officers for Clovis Lodge were installed on January 16, 1920. The installation was opened to families and friends. One of the first orders of business was to find a home for Clovis Lodge on a more permanent basis. In June of this year the process for a Lodge building was going slow and they raised the Secretaries salary from $100.00 to $200.00 per year.

In July discussion was held about buying 3 city lots in Clovis on which they could build a lodge building. No definite answer was formed and it was not mentioned again. In September there was a motion made and carried to invest surplus monies into a "good and secure manner" that the Lodge might benefit from the interest of said monies. They decided to invest in Government Bonds which paid an annual rate of 6 percent.

On October 8, 1920 the very first "Reyburn" night was conferred, Brother G. W. Reyburn was given the third degree in Masonry by six of his brothers sitting in the Masters, both Wardens, both Deacons and the junior stewards chairs. Several of these nights were performed after this first night.

In the month of January of 1921, 19 petitions for degrees and affiliations were read by the Lodge. So you can tell that the year of 1921 was going to be a very busy year. In February they decided to buy three lots in Clovis for a total price of $7875.00, with $4500.00 being put down and the balance being deferred. The lots were located on the north west corner of Fourth and Pollasky.

May 20, 1962, Past Master Emory Reyburn, passed away and was cremated on May23, 1962 in Fresno at the Chapel of the Light. The large group of Mason's attending his service attested to the high regard with which Bro. Emory was held in Clovis Lodge.
